It is with great sadness that the drum and bass and house music world have had to say goodbye to Marcus Intalex aka Trevino. Manchester born producer, known to his family and friends as Marcus Kaye, began as a house DJ in 1991 under the name Marcus Intalex, before becoming recognised as an early adopter of the UK drum and bass sound in the city of Manchester . In 2011, he moved his focus onto house and techno productions with the release of his debut album, 21.
Although the cause of death is currently known, many have taken to twitter to express their sympathies. Chase & Status wrote “such devastating news, another legend” and The Black Madonna wrote “Terrible news for dance music. Such a massive universe spinning talent. Travel safe, brother”. One fan summed up his influence perfectly when they said that he “inspired a generation”.
Set to play at his Soul:ution party in London on Sunday, Ovation posted the sad news, stating that the night at The Pickle Factory had been cancelled. Including his own labels, Soul:r and Revolve:r, Kaye released on Metalheadz, 3024 and Exit Records to name a few. Everyone at the SCM Crew are very sorry to see him go.
